3 BIG Questions with Adrian Quintero

3 BIG Questions with Adrian Quintero

This is the first episode of 3 BIG Questions

If you’re confused, it’s a show where I have conversations with my guests and ask them 3 BIG Questions (and some small ones). I wanted to create a place where I can help my friends, help my clients, help my network. We’re gonna try to connect people that wouldn’t normally connect and learn some new cool stuff.

A little business and a little fun.

This episode features my friend and frequent collaborator Adrian Quintero, a designer and illustrator here in Austin TX.

What are you working on right now?

With all that is going on with Coronavirus, a lot of people are seeing their side hustles take a bigger place on their priority list. Adrian has put together a Side Hustle Package just for those people. The package is designed to give people a boost as they try to find ways to make serious income. Maybe its a logo, album covers, or posters to promote some new art. Sometimes working with a designer is just the fuel you need to feed the hustle, and I can’t think of a better place to turn than Adrian.

How can you help someone right now?

Right now, content is showing up like crazy on social media. DJ streams, live music, all sorts of videos, and entertainment. The goal is to get eyes on your content, and Adrian can produce some great “scroll stoppers” to get people to stop and pay attention to what you are doing.

Beyond that, there is huge value in working with a professional designer. Sure, you can find tools to get stuff done or find a place to get it cheaper, but you usually get what you pay for. I like to make sure my clients understand, “I don’t work for you, I work with you.” Partnering with Adrian is the same way. The energy of the hustle combines with the energy of the art, and it’s inspiring. Seeing your dream show up as a visual can be the spark that makes things real.

What should we be watching, reading, or listening to?

Comics and Graphic Novels By Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips

Kill or Be Killed

Check out the local stuff and watch the live streams that are going on. Adrian also plays through his record collection on Twitch

Adrian’s two music recommendations:

Khruangbin – “chill, too cool for me”

Money Chicha – Latin-psych and cumbia band   “Music to rob a bank to”

Final Thoughts:

As we wrapped up our conversation, we both agreed that now is such a great time to try new things. Get out there make stuff, put it out there, see what you can learn, and then make stuff again.

Don’t wait ‘til things are perfect; that is how nothing gets done.
