Should You Worry About Digital Assistants Listening To You?

A recent article in Fast Company about the digital assistant privacy “scare” peaked our interest when it reported on the recording and quality-control efforts of Siri and Alexa. Specifically, outlining the triggering mechanisms:

There are two types of these recordings–the ones where users intended to talk to the assistant, and the ones where they didn’t. The intentional ones come after a user says a wake phrase such as “Hey Siri,” causing the assistant to start listening. The unintentional ones happen when the assistant mistakenly thinks it’s heard its wake phrase and starts recording speech or sounds the user didn’t intend to communicate. In both cases, the recordings that companies study are not associated with the user’s identity.

We talk about our personal and professional usage with digital personal assistants and the somewhat troubling trigger sound that could lead to very personal and very confidential conversations being recorded.

A Candid Discussion About Productivity

Chris is a procrastinator. But he knows this. And, it’s also how he does his best work – forcing a “crunch time” to be creative. Is there a way he can harness this? Is there a better way that he can work? How can be be creative while still being responsible with his time?

We talk about various tips, techniques, and ideas that can help Chris (and any business owner or entrepreneur) be more productive.
