Instagram Influencers are in the crosshairs of Trey Ratcliff’s book Under the Influence – How to Fake Your Way Into Getting Rich on Instagram: Influencer fraud, Selfies, Anxiety, Ego, and Mass Delusional Behavior. For those of you not familiar with what a “influencer” is, they are individuals on social media platforms that have a large following/fan base that receive compensation to feature, highlight, and/or promote someone’s product or service.
Influencers can, depending on their follower counts, earn anywhere between $1,000 to well over $100,000 for a single sponsored post. And that’s just cash — influencers also routinely receive freebies such as products, hotel stays, plane tickets, restaurant meals, and more.

In Trey’s book he shares how he created a fake account, @genttravel, and simply bought “influence” by spending an average of $40 for each 30,000 followers and racking up 104,000 followers and thousands of likes and comments. The book also goes into detail on all the different ways you can “buy your way to fake internet fame” and “how to spot fake accounts”.
Marketing Tip:
DON’T BUY FOLLOWERS! Seriously. Buying bots for business vanity is stupid and worthless.
Netflix's new interactive show You vs. Wild
Netflix has a new interactive show featuring Bear Grylls, You Vs. Wild, and the boys talk about their choices, the experience, the production, and pretty much ruin the first episode (sorry).
Ross and Chris also discuss the “reality” of Bear Grylls’ actions on the show and why people need to just chill out.
The drunk shopping economy
Wow.
The boys discuss drunken shopping and Ross actually breaks down how a savvy marketer could set up a marketing funnel to target drunk shoppers.
