Remember when “Portrait Mode” was the revolutionary thing that Apple did? They launched it with the iPhone 7 Plus and claimed to be the first to do it (although it was around way before iPhone 7). This mode, or some version of it, is now available on most smartphones with two lenses or there are apps that can fake the bokeh effect (blurry background).
Now, Instagram’s getting in on it with their 39.0 app update calling the feature “Focus”. Once you update your app, it’s easy to access.
- Open Instagram (duh)
- Swipe to the left
- By default, you start on “Normal” mode as noted on the bottom of the screen
- Scroll through the options at the bottom of the screen until you get to “Focus”
- Take a bokah-licious selfie of picture
