John Schnatter, CEO of Papa John’s, recently blamed the NFL for the pizza chain’s slipping sales numbers. “The NFL has hurt us by not resolving the current debacle to the players’ and owners’ satisfaction.” So while Papa John was delivering this excuse explanation, DiGiorno’s was baking up a saucy tweet:

Burn.

 

Of course, Papa John’s responded, but it seemed half-baked. [UPDATE 11.5.17: They’ve since changed their profile copy back to their generic info]

Papa John’s can, however, breathe easy as this event resulting in them getting an endorsement.

No, not from Peyton Manning or from an NFL player, but from the white supremacist website the Daily Stormer announcing that Papa John’s pizza is the official pie of the alt-right, posting this lovely picture:

Peter Collins, the senior director of public relations at Papa John’s, emailed an official statement from Papa John’s to Huffington Post on the matter: “We condemn racism in all forms and any and all hate groups that support it. We do not want these individuals or groups to buy our pizza.”
